Lego Star Wars Set 8097 Review - Boba Fett Slave 1 - 2010 Version!

Lego Star Wars Set 8097 Review - Boba Fett Slave 1 - 2010 Version!

Boba Fett is the infamous Mandalorian bounty hunter hired by Darth Vader in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. His duty was to find Hans Solo and the crew of the Millennium Falcon. Boba is quite easily one of the most popular Star War characters. In 2008, Boba Fett was selected as one of the 100 Greatest Movie Characters of all time by Empire magazine.

For 2010, Lego has decided to release set 8097 which is the newest version of Boba Fett and his spaceship Slave 1. In this article I will review the features of the new set and also tell you how you can order this set online before it is all sold out!

Set 8097 - Boba Fett Slave 1 - Features

The 2010 version of Boba Fett and Slave 1 seems to be the best version so far. Below I have listed a few of the major features I noticed when reviewing the set:

The color of the Slave 1 is a bit darker than previous versions of the ship. The dark red is very dominant. Features flick-fire missiles and other weapons to help you re-enact your favorite scenes. The missile shooter in the cockpit has four missiles and there are two manual ones located on the tail. The set comes with three minifigures: Boba Fett, Bossk, and Hans Solo. Boba's minifigure has great printing on the body and helmet. Han Solo's minifigure also has a lot of detail on the torso printing and the white shirt and brown pant color is very accurate. Overall, the detail and color accuracy of the minifigures is a big selling point for this set. The carbon Han Solo has been greatly improved from the last version. There are a lot of details and the mini-figure is a perfect fit for the chamber. The chamber also fits perfectly underneath the Slave 1 ship. The cockpit rotates separately from the ship How Can You Buy This Set?

There are many online toy stores that will eventually carry this set when it is released in August 2010. There are a number of stores that are already taking pre-orders.

To purchase this set, you can look through the huge list of online toy stores to see who carries the set and place your order. However, be warned that a number of stores are selling this set for higher than retail as it is expected that it will not last on shelves very long.

The easiest way to buy this set is to just go to a website that tells you which stores are selling the Lego 8097 set for the best price.

Star Wars LEGO Review Set 8083 Rebel Trooper Battle Pack

Star Wars LEGO Review Set 8083 Rebel Trooper Battle Pack

The Star Wars LEGO battle packs are generally very popular for collectors who want to build up their armies. This set, 8083 contains four of the Rebel Troopers who battle the Empire on the ice planet of Hoth featured in Episode 5, The Empire Strikes Back. This set is meant to match this wave's other battle pack release which contains four of the Empire's Snowtroopers and commanders.

As with most LEGO Star Wars battlepacks the set comes with four figures, some accessories and a small vehicle or gun. The four figures in this are 3 Rebel troopers in cold-weather gear and Rebel pilot Zev Senesca.

Zev was most famous for being the Snowspeeder pilot who found Han Solo and Luke Skywalker in the icy plains of Hoth after their night out in the cold. He utters the phrase (fans say it with me) "Echo Base, this is Rogue Two. I've found them. Repeat, I've found them." His version of the Snowspeeder helmet has been redone for this set as has his torso. The head is slightly different to match the uniqueness of this snowspeeder pilot as an actual character.

The Hoth rebel troopers have new helmets with snap on goggles. The goggles can cover the headpiece's eyes so or can be unclipped and placed above the brim of their helmet which gives an authentically good look. The regular hoth troopers also come with Backpacks while the Hoth Officer has a new mustached headpiece, slightly different print on his torso and white legs. Although this commander isn't named I like to think of him as Major Derlin played by Cheers star and Pixar regular John Ratzenberger, the likeness is striking.

The vehicle may not be familiar to causal viewers of Star Wars but it is known as a Laser Ice Cutter and can be seen in a cut scene of Empire Strikes Back as Luke Skywalker uses the machine to ward off a wampa attack.

This battle pack may be overshadowed by the matching Empire version 8084, which contains the highly sought after snowtrooper figures but it has slot going for it in its own right and is worth chasing at the low .99 price point.
