Bible Lesson

Start out the class by reading Ephesians 6:11, "Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes." If the children are old enough, you should have them practice looking the verse up in the bible and reading it themselves.

Continue to read Ephesians 6:10-11. Begin discussion by talking about real armor. Ask the students how armor works and what it was used for. Then, discuss what the bible means by "armor of God." Ask the following questions:

What is spiritual armor, and why do we need it? What are we fighting against when we wear the armor of God? Should we be afraid when we go into this battle? How does God help us in our spiritual battle? How should we use our spiritual armor in our everyday lives - at home, at church, and at school?Teachers should emphasize that God is always there to help us. He guides us in our everyday battles, and He gives us the tools we need to fight the badness around us.

Craft Activity

Next, have the students use construction paper, crayons, markers, glue, glitter, yarn, and stickers to decorate their armor of God. Older children can create helmets, shields, belts, and swords on their own, but for younger kids, the teacher should probably cut out the materials before hand and just have the kids color them.

Once the materials are ready, remind the students what each part of the armor stands for as they put them on:

The belt of truth not only holds our weapons, but keeps us tied to what is true: Jesus. The shield of faith protects us from our enemy's arrows, just as our faith protects us from evil temptations. The helmet of salvation saves our heads from damage and saves us from eternal suffering. The sword of truth is a powerful weapon that represents God's word.Music Time

Conclude Sunday School by singing "I'm in the Lord's Army." Teach the children these actions to go with the verses:

"I may never march in the Infantry:" March in place. "Ride in the cavalry:" Pretend to ride their horses. "Shoot in the artillery:" Use their hands to pretend to fire guns. "I may never fly over the enemy:" Extend their arms and pretend to fly like a plane. "But I'm in the Lord's army:" Point toward themselves with their thumbs.

Lego Star Wars Set Review 2010 - 8096 Emperor Palpatine's Shuttle

Lego set 8096, comes with 592 pieces and features the shuttle as well as four figures. Along with a hard to find Emperor Palpatine minifig the set also features a wounded Darth Vader (no doubt exclusive to this set), a clone pilot to fly the shuttle and a medical droid to tend to Vader until he arrives at the Emperor's temple in Coruscant.

The shuttle vehicle obviously constitutes the main part of this set. The cockpit opens and the clone pilot can be seated inside. Inside the main area of the ship there is room for other figures to sit as well as a medical area where Vader is given medical attention. Actually the set shifts the creation of the mechanical Vader from Palpatine's temple to the shuttle itself and includes a play mechanism to attach his helmet and then lift Vader up from horizontal, as depicted in the "Lord Vader...Rise" scene in the film.

The shuttle does look a little awkward, the interior is quite shallow much like last year's Republic Attack Shuttle. Having said that, the model does match the one in the film well and is obviously a precursor to the beautiful Imperial Shuttle that graced the saga's Original Trilogy. While it will not appeal to casual fans of the Star Wars saga, dedicated Lego Star Wars fans will be drawn to the new figures and the high piece count of the set.

But what if you are a "do it yourself-er" and you want to tackle a homemade Star Wars costume? Can it be done? Well the answer is most definitely yes, and it can be done quite quickly and easily. Here are just a few suggestions to get you started and you're bound to come up with even more ideas of your own as you go along.

For Darth Vader, the Prince of Darkness, you can first find all black Clothing of some sort. Then add a long black cape but pad your shoulder area a little bit so the cape flows out and down instead of just falling down at your sides. Obviously Darth Vader's headgear was the most recognizable feature of his outfit and will be the most difficult to replicate. You may be able to buy a headpiece separately but if you can't, get yourself a good photo of him, some cardboard, poster paint and tape and see what you can construct. You could try working with a sport helmet and tweaking it somehow. Then add black gloves and a light Sabre and you're good to go!

A Storm Trooper could be done in much the same way. If you can find them, a set of white painter's coveralls from your home building store is a great place to start. You'll have to figure out the helmet thing again, but in all white this time.

Anakin Skywalker is a super easy homemade Star Wars costume to make. All you need is a long white tunic which can be made from any over-sized sweater, cinched at the waist with a broad black belt. Add some brown Pants and then pull some brown leggings or knee socks with the foot part cut out over your boots and you're done. Oh, don't forget the light Sabre for this hero too!

Of course we don't want to forget Princess Leia. This costume is super easy too. All you need is a long white robe...if you don't want to make one, you can probably make a white bathrobe work. Try finding one at your local Goodwill or second hand store. Add a shiny silver belt at the waist and then take the most time to fix your hAir. You'll need to duplicate those fancy side buns somehow. A wig might be your best bet here.

These are just a few ideas from the movies main character list. Depending on how much time you have, and what your budget is, there is really no limit to how great a homemade star wars costume you can create!

New Clone Star Wars figures and vehicles by Hasbro

Since the Clone Wars TV series is quite popular among the fans, so are the related Clone Wars toys. So what can we expect in the nearfuture?

First of all, there are some really cool new 3 3/4-inch scale vehicle packs (wave 6) scheduled to be released before the end of 2009. They include some really nice pieces like General Grievous Starfighter, AAT Trade Federation Tank, Obi-Wan's Delta 2 Starfighter, Darth Vader's TIE Fighter and others. If you buy them as gifts for your children, they will sure like the special action features, like firing rockets etc.

Later on, in January 2010, there should be a new release of Deluxe 3 3/4-inch scale Star Wars figurines sets (action figure + matching vehicle). You can look forward to Anakin Skywalker Desert Skiff Sport, Clone Commander Cody with BARC Speeder and my favorite Scout Clone Trooper with AT-RT Vehicle, to name just a few.

The pigs themselves appear in different sizes and with different abilities. The smaller pigs are easy to destroy, then the larger pigs who can sustain more damage before being destroyed. Some pigs wear helmets as armor or an armor made of pumpkin, making them stronger.
